Refer a patient

For colleagues sending a patient to Dr. Diala Oueidat, oral surgeon and implantologist.

What we take referrals for

• Surgical extractions, including teeth broken below the gum
• Wisdom teeth, including impacted lower thirds close to the nerve
• Impacted canines, for removal or for exposure and bonding
• Implants, including cases needing bone grafting or a sinus lift
• Oral pathology: lesions needing diagnosis or biopsy
• Suspected obstructive sleep apnea, for screening and oral appliance therapy

The patient comes back to you

This is the part worth stating plainly, because it is the concern behind every referral. The patient returns to you for everything outside the surgical episode. We do the procedure you referred for, review it, and send them back with a note on what was done and anything you need to know. We are not looking to take over their care.

What to send

• A recent radiograph, or a CBCT if you have one
• One line on the relevant medical history and current medication
• What you have already tried, and what you want from us
• Whether the patient knows what is being proposed

If you want a second opinion before deciding whether to refer at all, that is welcome and it does not commit anyone to anything. Call the clinic and ask to speak to Dr. Diala.
